Miscellaneous Maddy before we leave for Maui

It's 5:17 pm on the 29th of January. We are all packed and ready to go. Maddy is sleeping, finally. She got to play with Josie and Charlie Swingler this morning and has been on a bit of a warpath ever since. It seems like she's saying - Mommy, why don't we have other little people for me to play with here? With other little people's toys? Sarah was sweet enough to let us go "shopping" in her garage for new toys. I think I forget that as she gets older she will want different stimulation and also need to put some of her trillion wonderful toys away and reintroduce them every week or so. Something to work on when we get back.

These pics are just miscellaneous - a few from a chilly day when she wore her cute sweater, a few of her wearing her bunny jacket from her Grammie, and on of her kind-of-eating her first bowl of pasta with her Gampie. The poor waitress brought over the bowl and out it right in front of Maddy. She dug inimmediately with both hands and threw the corkscrews in the air. Very cute, but very messy. I think she may have eaten one piece.

I had a sad moment today. I was getting Maddy ready for her bath, took off her clothes as usual, and brought her in for my daily naked hug (she feels so good when it's just baby, no diaper) and she pushed me away! Like, with both hands, arching her back away. We both got in the tub, and she did it again! I was holding her while she played with the faucet (she tends to slip back, need to get a non-skid mat), and she was trying to pry my fingers off of her tummy. She's never done this before, her first assertion of independence. I would love for her to become an independent person, but NOW? This soon??? Oy ve. I got some nice hugs after her bath that erased my sad moment.

So we're off. Back on the 9th. I'd send my fam the itinerary, but I don't have one. I know we come back on the 8th in the evening. I will have my phone on me, so holla if you need me. Love you guys.

Maddy's Godmama is turning 30!

Maddy's godmother, Sarah, is turning 30 on the 27th and we went down to their house on Saturday to celebrate. I don't get to see my best friend nearly enough since she moved away, so when I do it's way too exciting. She and her husband Jackson threw an amazing dinner party, 4 course meal, champagne punch, beautifully set tables. It would have been flawless had my screaming baby not been throwing a fit trying to fall asleep upstairs. Poor pumpkin had a rough day and just wasn't having it. Just after I missed the carrot soup and scallops, I made it back down in time for steak and lil Maddy finally settled. I didn't take pictures, I intended too, but was too consumed with the fun to think of it! :( So I'm posting a picture of our last carefree girl's night at the brewery. This was the night that Sarah was thinking that it might be possible that she could be pregnant. We laughed and said wouldn't that be great/crazy/insane/wonderful... Very soon after, she confirmed that she was pregnant with our goddaughter Charlotte and our lives were changed forever. :)

I'm posting some random Maddy pics from a few days ago too.

Maddy Standing! Sort of...

Lots of videos lately, she's just doing so much fun stuff. She doesn't pull herself to sitting unless she's holding your hands, but if you put her next to something, she'll stand holding on to it. Once she is standing, she does NOT want to sit. I'm tellin' ya - she'll be walking before she's crawling. In this video, I unsnapped her sleeper so she could get better traction.

Daddy Play Time

I took this video on Wednesday afternoon. Johnny was playing with the little miss, tossing a towel on her head. She was loving it, so of course, I had to take a video.

Maddy is 8 months old!

Nooo! It's going to faaaast! Ugh. She is so much stinkin fun right now, I don't want her to get any older. I feel like I say that every month, and she just gets more and more fun. She is now rolling around in her crib, which is making naptime a bit difficult. Right away she is on her belly playing, and then fusses after about 30 minutes or so because her face is crammed ina corner or her hand or foot is stuck in the slats. Then I go in and roll her back over and then hopefully she falls asleep. Or she falls asleep on her tummy, which is huge since we're trying to roud out that head of hers. It's like there is too much to check out when she is on her tummy. It's adorable to go in there and see her chilling on her belly, but definitely disrupting the all-too-important schedule. I figure she'll be bored of it in a week and go back to normal. Hopefully. This video was taken the night of her 8 month birthday, in her sleep sack ready for bed.

Getting ready for Maui...

We're leaving for Maui on the 30th of this month - I can't wait. I've started packing, hoping that if I allow this much time I won't forget anything. Ha! Fat chance!

We ordered a little beach cabana for Maddy to hang out in at the beach, keeping her free from fistfuls of sand and sunburns. We tried it out in the family room, looks like she liked it!

First Pics of 2009

Maddy's rough time of the day is between 3:30 and 4:30. Her last nap usually ends at 2:30 ish and the poor pumpkin has a hard time staying awake for more than an hour still. So by 3:30, she is craaanky. When she is tired, she doesn't just get sleepy, she gets a bit angry and delirious. I try to postpone her bath (which she perks up for and enjoys immensely) until 4:30 so she doesn't go to bed before 5, but this is always a struggle, and most days she is red faced and cross eyed by 4:45 and I give in and put her to bed.

We have to come up with fun things to keep her entertained aside from her standard playtime activities. Some days we go to the park, some days we go for a walk, some days we just go out in the backyard with the dogs and she looks around in amazement. A couple days ago I took her outside and was able to get some cute pics of her. It looks like she is looking into the sun, but there were actually some birds flying around that had her mesmerized.
