Madison's First Halloween Party

We had so much fun! Maddy wore the pink poodle costume. Unfortunately I failed in the pic department and didn't take any at the event, but did snap a few before. There were so many cute babies - chili peppers, bananas, chicks, bees... too too cute. Maddy got too hot after about a half hour so she put on her halloween t-shirt and socks (thank you GG).

Which Halloween Costume?

Here are a few videos of the costume contenders. It is supposed to be pretty warm, but I think we'll be inside. Which do you think?

Happy Friday!

Whew - what a week. I have been able to put in 14 hours of work this week and just picked up another project from an internet advertising company. We'll see how that goes. Busy times!

Maddy has had a tough week. I think she is trying to transition to sleeping less and being awake more, but if left to her own devices, that would mean up for an hour, down for an hour, all day long. So today I'm trying to guide her towards an up for 2 hours, down for 2 hours routine. So far so good! She was up for two hours this morning and then napped for almost 2 hours. Yay!

This weekend will be pretty hectic. Kara is coming over to babysit while Johnny and I go to a birthday party at K-1 Racing in Irvine. Johnny is doing some racing thing all day tomorrow, and then my mom's group is having a Halloween party for the babies on Sunday. Yikes.

I cleaned out Maddy's closet yesterday and man she had a lot of little dresses! So she is going to wear them until it gets too cold. I took some pics of course:

Madison video - Day 2

OK- I'm sold. I've been used to a very tight routine for most of my life and I've missed it! Maddy goes down for her first nap at 7:00 am, and usually I will come back out to the family room and do some job/project searching, perusing all of the freelance sites until I can start working at 8:00. Now, as soon as she goes down, I get in the shower and get dressed, take out the dogs, and clean up any messes. I'm done by 8:00 and can start working, checking the freelance sites while I'm making my calls. I feel a thousand times more human. This is now permanent. Nothing is lost, and so much is gained. This probably seems painfully obvious to anyone reading this, but to go from my previous life to this one has been a 100% change and apparently I handled it best...in sweats.

It really hit me that I had to change something last week. We three were at our friends Derek and Heidi's house meeting their adorable new addition, Phoenix, when Derek gave me a hug and said I smelled just like Madison. Hmmm...why would that be? Perhaps because she had barfed down my cheek and into my hair earlier that day. I had a ton of errands to run and no time to do it, so I threw my hair into a messy (and smelly) bun and went about my day. It came time to go over to their house and I didn't have time to shower first. Now that's just gross. To me, though, I was used to being grungy in sweats, smelling like baby vomit. I'd like to be used to smelling nice and being dressed. And so it will be.

I took a little video of Maddy playing this morning.

Maddy is having a rough day...

I realized over the weekend that since I've become a mom, I've been slacking in the "doing what I know I'm supposed to do" department. I know I should put on real clothes every day, but sweats are so much more comfortable, and have become what I wear...everywhere. I know I should shower every morning, not succumb to what my mom friends call the "every other day rule". I know there are a ton of things around here I need to get done that keep going on the back burner. Emptying closets, clean out the fridge, put away Maddy's newborn clothes...this is making me tired.

So... this week I'm going to do everything I know I'm supposed to do. I figure if I commit to one week, it won't seem as daunting as a complete life change and will maybe even stick. Day 1 has gone well. It felt great to be showered, blow dryed and dressed by 7. I kind of felt all dressed up with no where to go, but I did feel more like working at the counter than laying on the couch. Wish me luck!

Maddy is NOT on board with this whole what-we're-supposed-to-do thing. She is having a rough day. We were supposed to go and finally take more pics today, but she's been grumpy and off kilter all day, so I just took some outside during a brief moment without tears. She looks so sad in some of them!

Standing with Pops video

This video was taken on our anniversary. My dad gave us an enormous gift certificate to our favorite restaurant, the Savannah Chophouse. We had amazing wine, the best steak ever, blue cheese butter....now I'm hungry. Kara put Maddy down for the night when we got home, but then the little dickens woke up at about 10 and wanted to hang for an hour or so.

Maddy's Great Aunt Kathy comes to visit

My Aunt Kathy came to visit this weekend and she was able to meet Maddy for the first time. She and came over Friday morning and brought her some adorable warm clothes for the coming cold months. Then we met for lunch at the Coyote Grill in Laguna.

The Morrells Babysit

Johnny and I went to our friends Gary and Kristi's wedding on a boat in Newport on Saturday night and the Morrell ladies came over to babysit. They always take the best pics....

Maddy's Grammie got her this head bow thingy. Suh cute. I picture her shimmying her shoulders and singing Copacabana.
I love her smile...
Come here, I wanna eat you.
Give me that toy, I want to eat it.
We have more milk, right? Right? You were just playin'?
Again - Come here, I want to eat you.
